CUSTOMIZAÇÃO DO COURO

A customização e o artesanato do couro têm andado de mãos dadas com a história da humanidade. Ainda hoje, com o aumento da automação, são uma parte essencial da sensibilidade pessoal e experiência daqueles que levam adiante o trabalho artístico com o couro.

Tingimento

O tingimento de couro geralmente envolve o uso de corantes à base de álcool, onde o álcool é rapidamente absorvido carregando o pigmento na superfície.

Pintura

A pintura de couro difere do tingimento de couro em que a tinta permanece apenas na superfície enquanto os corantes são absorvidos no couro. Devido a esta diferença, as técnicas de pintura de couro geralmente não são usadas em itens que podem ou devem dobrar nem em itens que recebem fricção, como cintos e carteiras, porque nessas condições, a tinta provavelmente pode quebrar e escorrer. No entanto, tintas látex pode ser usado para pintar tais itens de couro flexível.

A tinta acrílica é um meio comum, muitas vezes pintado em quadros de couro trabalhado, apoiado com madeira ou papelão e, em seguida, emoldurado. Ao contrário das fotografias, as pinturas de couro são exibidas sem uma cobertura de vidro, para evitar o molde.

LEATHER CRAFTING

The customization and craftsmanship of leather have gone hand in hand with the history of mankind. Even today, with increasing automation, they are an essential part of the personal sensitivity and experience of those who carry out the artistic work with leather.

Dyeing

Leather dyeing usually involves the use of spirit- or alcohol-based dyes where alcohol quickly gets absorbed carrying the pigment deep into the surface.

Painting

Leather painting differs from leather dyeing in that paint remains only on the surface while dyes are absorbed into the leather. Due to this difference, leather painting techniques are generally not used on items that can or must bend nor on items that receive friction, such as belts and wallets because under these conditions, the paint is likely to crack and flake off. However, latex paints can be used to paint such flexible leather items.

Acrylic paint is a common medium, often painted on tooled leather pictures, backed with wood or cardboard, and then framed. Unlike photographs, leather paintings are displayed without a glass cover, to prevent mold.
